IN-PERSON & VIRTUAL OPTIONS
Dance classes for 2020–2021 are being offered both in-person and virtually via Zoom. Families are asked to commit to one option, and those who choose the virtual option are expected to participate in real time following the listed schedule.
Home Dance Spaces For Virtual Students
Contemporary and Ballet Dancers
We recommend setting up your dance space on a hardwood or kitchen floor. Otherwise, many hardware and building supply stores sell pre-cut pieces of laminated wood or linoleum flooring scraps that help students slide the foot properly for warm-up exercises. 4-6 ft in length/width will work just fine.
Irish Hard Shoe Dancers
Hard dance shoes can ruin floors, and concrete can ruin dance shoes (as well as the body!). We recommend using a small panel of wood laid on top of a rug or yoga mat. Many hardware and building material stores have pre-cut panels that are 4-6 ft in length/width, or have the ability to cut one to size.

Enrollment Limits & Waiting Lists
Enrollment for dance classes is strictly limited to ensure that both in-person and virtual students receive the best possible experience given the current circumstances. If your class is sold out, the Box Office can assist you in adding your name to a Waiting List. Should a spot become available, Waiting List families will be contacted in the order that they were added to the Waiting List.
Virtual students should follow Dress Code to keep their classroom habits sharp, and to help the instructor observe movement habits and give corrections.
In-Person students who are 5 years and older who participate in person are required to wear face coverings. We recommend a surgical-style mask that stays securely in place. Older dancers are encouraged to bring an extra mask so they can switch to a fresh one during their mid-class break.
Since January 2007, the Schauer School of Arts (SSA) has offered dance instruction that focuses on building students’ abilities through the development of a strong technical foundation. We offer classes in Ballet, Contemporary, Irish and Tap for ages 3+.
OUR PURPOSE
- To provide experienced and knowledgeable instructors who love to teach
- To help students develop a strong technical foundation and grow as artists
