The Hartford Community Chorus continues its summer program with the group known as “Vintage.” We use the word “vintage” to describe fine wine, timeless apparel, and classic automobiles. Vintage, then, is something old and of value, something that has withstood the passing of time, something that can be labeled “classic.” In that light, “Vintage” is a singing group that largely performs music of the Big Band Era (late 1920s-early 1950s).
This year’s concert performance will occur in the Schauer Arts Center’s Courtyard on Hartford’s National Night Out, Wednesday, August 12, beginning at 7:00 pm. No tickets are required, and there is no admission fee; free will donations are gladly accepted. So, bring your lawn chairs and enjoy an evening of Louis Prima, Harry Warren, Irving Berlin, Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, Jerome Kern, and others. As always, the audience will be encouraged to sing along.
