At this time of year, many people display Christmas lights. Their shining is a powerful symbol of hope and holds a profound significance symbolizing the birth of Jesus (O Nata Lux), the "Light of the World," and the triumph of light over darkness. Too, in the winter season of life—regardless of a person’s age—there is also hope and confidence in Lux Aeterna or Light Eternal.

While the specifics vary among different cultures, many people share similar beliefs that light also symbolizes important virtues like knowledge, goodness, wisdom, and divine energy, thus serving as a means to ward off sadness during the darkest times. Lights and candles can bring positivity and warmth, and they invite people to gather together.

For our 2025 Christmas concert performance, the Hartford Community Chorus will offer a program celebrating our journey to Bethlehem to see wondrous things and to discover again the light within. As in the past, you too will have the opportunity to join the Chorus in singing of this ineffable Lux or Light.

THIS IS A FREE NON-TICKETED EVENT. Seating is first come, first served. Doors will open one hour prior to showtime.
