Classes or rehearsals missed by a student due to illness, scheduling conflicts or any other reason are not guaranteed a make-up class. If possible, we encourage students to make up missed classes in another appropriate class during the current semester.
If your child will be missing class due to an illness or conflict, please fill out the online Absence Reporting Form.
We encourage students to make up missed classes in another appropriate class during the current semester. To ensure the quality of teaching, the Schauer Center reserves the right to discontinue students who fail to exhibit interest, attendance, discipline, or progress. Excessive absences will be dealt with at the discretion of each instructor.
Due to the numerous activities, event set-up, and valuable artwork on display, the Schauer Center may prohibit parents from waiting in the Gallery (second floor) after dropping students off for class. If a parent chooses to stay on premises for the duration of a class and there is an event in the Gallery, the Schauer Center requests that parents wait on the lower lobby level. At the Creative Arts Studios, adults and children may wait in the designated waiting area. Children should not be left unattended in this space. Food and drink are allowed, but please help us keep the building clean, and dispose of all trash. If you have other children with you while you wait, we ask that you please bring something to keep them occupied for the duration of the class. If your child is running throughout the building, you will be asked to leave. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
We will not hold classes when the Hartford Area School District has cancelled school for or after school activities due to the weather. Ways to be notified if classes are cancelled:
- The Schauer Center posts closings on the following stations: WMDC 98.7 FM, TMJ4 NBC, CBS 58, Fox 6, WISN ABC 12, WTKM 104.9 FM
Please note, that we do not contact individual families to let them know that classes have been cancelled. Classes and programs will be rescheduled at the discretion of the instructor.
